Agbonlahor lambasts three Liverpool stars set to start v Man City – ‘miles off it’

Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are a “million miles off it” and will cost Liverpool against Man City, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted Liverpool are in “decline” and Man City could win 4-1 at Anfield.

The Reds go into the game 13 points behind Man City who are second in the Premier Leagu table.

Jurgen Klopp insisted in his pre-match press conference on Friday (14 October) that he will not deploy a specific plan to nullify Erling Haaland.

“Liverpool have the home advantage that will help them,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I don’t look at anywhere on the pitch other than midfield. I feel like this game is going to be won in midfield.

“Thiago, Fabinho and Henderson are a million miles off it at the moment. De Bruyne, Gundogan, Rodri and Bernardo Silva will just run that midfield.

“Liverpool are going to be chasing shadows. A defender is going to have to come out and help when De Bruyne or Silva run past their midfield opponents.

“That will leave Haaland one-v-one, Jack Grealish one-v-one versus Trent and he’ll have a field day. If it’s not Trent, against Gomez it’s even worse.

“I don’t see anything other than a comfortable Man City win, a 3-1 or 4-1 win for Man City, to be honest.

“Liverpool have had their day, they’ve had their time and their decline is here.

“You have to give them credit because if it wasn’t for them then Man City would have won the title every year for the last however many years.

“Now it looks like it’s going to be Arsenal who are the main challengers to stop City from winning the league.”

In other news, Liverpool may be without Luis Diaz for longer than first feared.
