Agbonlahor: Leeds United may let Patrick Bamford go after confirmed news
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Leeds United could bin Patrick Bamford at the end of the season due to his injury problems.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted it was a “shame” that Bamford has been hit with another setback.
Leeds confirmed earlier this week (4 December) that the 30-year-old was not with his teammates for their mid-season training camp in Spain.
Instead he had travelled to Germany to undergo “minor surgery” on a groin injury but was expected to be fit within two weeks.
Bamford has only started five Premier League games since he suffered an ankle injury during a game with Newcastle United in September 2021.
In the 2020-21 season, he scored 17 top flight goals in 38 games and was rewarded with a new five-year deal by the Whites before winning his first and only England cap just before his injury.
“It’s a shame as well,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I think we could be at the stage where at the end of the season, they cut ties with Bamford.
“When you are as injury prone as he is, it’s going to slow him down even more because he was never the quickest.
“Leeds need to move on.”

Bamford has featured in 10 Premier League games this season but is yet to find the net as Jesse Marsch has had to rely on Rodrigo for goals.
The Spaniard is the club’s top scorer with nine goals in 13 top flight games this term, including 12 starts.
In other news, Leeds United are plotting a move to re-sign a £100,000-a-week star in January.
