Agbonlahor: Leeds United should fine Luis Sinisterra after latest twist in controversy

Leeds United should fine Luis Sinisterra after he was sent off during their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday (2 October), according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Jesse Marsch should be upset at the nature of Sinisterra’s red card after “waffling” about Villa’s supposed time-wasting.

The 23-year-old was shown a second yellow card just after half-time for illegally blocking an Aston Villa free-kick from close range.

As quoted by the BBC after the game, Marsch complained about the opposition’s tactics and claimed he “felt sorry for the fans”.

Steven Gerrard hit back by suggesting Leeds were also guilty of time-wasting when they went down to 10 men.

“You are on a yellow card, why would you stick your foot out when you’re so close?” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“That’s time-wasting. Jesse Marsch should look at that incident before he starts waffling about Villa time-wasting.

“If you’re going to do that you’ve got to face the consequences. It happened to [Raul] Jimenez last season for Wolves against Man City. He got two quick yellows. Referees have got to make a statement.

“If you’re the manager, you’re fining that player. He made it difficult for the rest of the team.”

Sinisterra will now serve a one-game ban and will therefore miss Leeds’ visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday (9 October).

The Colombian international moved to Elland Road from Feyenoord in the summer and has four goal contributions in seven games across all competitions this season.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Leeds United are taking a “near-£20million” gamble amid a courtroom twist.
