Agbonlahor: Lucas Digne injury update is perfect timing for Aston Villa
Lucas Digne’s injury is a blow for Aston Villa but it has come at the best time as possible, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer suggested Digne may only miss a week of action for the club due to the international break.
The 29-year-old was a late call up to the France squad but had to pull out due to an ankle injury.
French outlet L’Equipe reported last week (20 September) that he suffered a “possible stress fracture” to his right ankle.
It is claimed he could miss several weeks of action after initial scans on the injury.
Aston Villa also released a statement on Friday (23 September) that Boubacar Kamara had suffered a knee ligament injury.
Asked whether Digne’s injury was a major blow, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“Aston Villa have got some good cover though, Ashley Young has come in and done really well. You’ve got cover at left-back.
“I think Aston Villa will be fine. The international break has probably helped these players rest and get their injuries sorted and be back a week after the international break.
“I think the international break has come at a good time for Villa, definitely.”

As well as Digne and Kamara, Villa are also without Diego Carlos who suffered an ACL injury at the beginning of the season.
They are next in action next weekend (2 October) when they travel to Leeds United.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Aston Villa have a “concerning” wage issue amid a £659million reveal.
