Agbonlahor makes bold Aston Villa claim after 'massive' Burchall signing
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Aston Villa have the “best academy in the country” after their “massive” transfer business this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Villa academy graduate and record Premier League goalscorer insisted the future is very exciting for the club.
The latest addition to Villa’s academy is 16-year-old Ajani Burchall who played twice for Bournemouth’s first team before making the switch on 9 July.
They have also added England Under-16 captain Josh Feeney from Fleetwood Town.
Highly-rated Bristol Rovers winger Kyrie Perry also joined Villa’s academy last month.
Football Insider exclusively revealed today (14 July) they have joined the race to sign Thierry Small, 16, from Everton.

“It’s massive for Aston Villa,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Aston Villa have got the best youth team and best academy in the country. You saw that when they won the FA Youth Cup and the Under-23s are doing well too.
“They’re making moves. They’re giving all these players new contracts, they’ve brought in players from other clubs. They’re out there looking at who’s the best 15-year-olds, 16-year-olds in the country. They’ve got this one from Bournemouth now.
“It just goes to show the future of the Aston Villa first team will be youngsters.
“It’s exciting for myself after coming through the academy and getting the chance to play. It’s what you want to see for other players.
“They’ve got a history of it. Obviously, you have to be good enough but I’m sure they hope that these players can keep progressing and make the first team.”
