Agbonlahor on potential Tottenham rift as controversial Cristian Romero and Hugo Lloris footage emerges
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed tensions between Cristian Romero and Hugo Lloris during the World Cup final will be forgotten when they return to Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Romero will not care if Lloris never speaks to him again after Argentina beat France on penalties in Sunday’s final (18 December).
In the opening exchanges, the France captain had to be treated by medical staff after Romero elbowed him in his ribs as they challenged for a cross.
The goalkeeper was visibly upset with his club teammate and called on the referee to sanction him.
Asked whether he thought the incident could affect their relationship at club level, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Not really, no.
“Lloris will understand. He’s won a World Cup so will know how much it meant to Argentina.
“Those Argentine players couldn’t care less about who they are playing against and whether they play together at club level.
“They would have broken a French player’s ribs and not been bothered to win a World Cup. That’s how much it meant to them. That’s how passionate they were throughout the tournament.
“I’m sure Romero could not care less if Lloris didn’t speak to him again. He won a World Cup and did what he had to do.”

Tottenham return to Premier League action on Boxing Day when they travel to Brentford for a London derby.
Antonio Conte’s side are currently fourth in the table, eight points off league leaders Arsenal.
In other news, a club is close to signing a Tottenham sensation and a 1 January move is expected.
