Agbonlahor on Rangers axing Jon McLaughlin amid new claim
Rangers will not axe Jon McLaughlin for Allan McGregor just yet, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward suggested Giovanni van Bronckhorst will tell McLaughlin he needs to demonstrate why he has faith in him.
The 35-year-old has started all of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership and European games this term despite McGregor signing a new one-year deal over the summer.

He has kept five clean sheets in 11 appearances but has shipped eight goals in the Gers’ last two games.
The Ibrox club conceded four without reply in against rivals Celtic last weekend (3 September) before losing by the same scoreline to Ajax in their opening Champions League group game in midweek (7 September).
With the trip to Aberdeen suspended due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Rangers’ next scheduled game is the visit of Napoli on Tuesday (13 September).
Asked whether McLaughlin will be axed for the game, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I don’t think so yet.
“I think he’s done well but he didn’t do well last Sunday. I’d give him longer, I’d say ‘Show me why I should have faith in you, otherwise I will swap you’.
“I do feel like I’d still trust him but would make sure McGregor is ready just in case.”

McGregor, who will celebrate his 41st birthday this season, kept 17 clean sheets in 48 games across all competitions last season as the Gers reached the Europa League final.
Across his two spells at Ibrox, he has 451 times across all competitions, keeping 205 clean sheets in the process.
In other news, Rangers are set for a “massive” transformation after a development that “changes everything”.
