Agbonlahor rips into seven Leeds United stars after what he saw – ‘tell them not to come to pre-season’
Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Leeds United to axe most of their defenders this summer if they can remain in the Premier League.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the likes of Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk and Junior Firpo should be told “not to come back to pre-season” ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Leeds fell to a 6-1 defeat at home against Liverpool on Monday (17 April) – meaning they have now shipped 16 goals in their last four games.
Javi Gracia’s side are now 16th in the Premier League – just two points outside the drop zone with seven games to play.
That is despite the Whites spending a reported outlay of almost £130million on new recruits across both windows this season.
Agbonlahor accused Leeds of “wasting” that money – and singled Rasmus Kristensen and Weston McKennie out for criticism.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I’d strip the whole back four.
“I’d tell them not to come back to pre-season. Koch, Struijk, Ayling, Firpo, Kristensen – they’re not good enough.
“They can’t defend, they’ve got no pace, they ball-watch.
“Liam Cooper is on the bench and can’t even get a game.
“I just look at Leeds, and it looks like the future. If they stay up, it’ll just happen again next season. They aren’t good enough.

“McKennie as well, I don’t know how he got a game for Juventus – because he’s terrible.
“The striker, Rutter, hasn’t done anything. They’ve spent good money this season, but they’ve wasted all of it.”
