Asked for his assessment of the news, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s massive from Son.

“Son’s probably looking at it like he owes Spurs, they’ve given him the chance to play at the top level and he has repaid them.

“He’s probably got a deal that doubles his money or at least gets a big increase.

“For him, it suits him. He’s playing in a top league under a new manager who has sold him the plan.

“He’s earning very good wages so it suits Son and it’s very deserved because he’s been a top player.”

Son has scored x goals and provided y assist in z appearances across all competitions for Tottenham.

He has reached two major cup finals and finished second in the Premier League with the club but is yet to win a trophy in north London.
