Agbonlahor savages ‘moaning’ Jurgen Klopp after new Liverpool controversy – ‘it makes him look stupid’

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp “made himself look stupid” by “moaning” about a foul on Ibrahima Konate before Brentford’s third goal on Monday (2 January).

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 23-year-old “went down like a piece of straw” – allowing Bryan Mbuemo to cap off a 3-1 victory for the Bees.

As seen in footage from the Sky Sports Premier League Twitter account (2 January), Mbuemo makes contact with Konate with the ball heading back towards the Liverpool goal, allowing him to steal in and slot past Alisson.

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports, Klopp insisted the France international was fouled and accused the VAR of “hiding” during the contentious moment.

He also accused Brentford of “stretching the rules” during set pieces.

When asked if Klopp has a point, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Not at all.

“If that’s a foul, then we all might as well stop watching football.

“It was nothing, and I can’t believe Konate went over. He went over easy to try and get the decision.

“I was so happy the goal was given.

“We’re used to Klopp moaning, and he’s got a lot to moan about at the moment.

“What he should be doing is having a go at his own team, rather than moaning about the decisions.

“It’s just making him look stupid because everyone with eyes could see that it wasn’t a foul. It wasn’t even a push, there was absolutely nothing in it.

Konate

“Konate went down like a piece of straw.

“Brentford were the better team, and Liverpool were found out – and they’ve got a lot of work to do.”
