Agbonlahor savages Richarlison as Tottenham source reveals transfer plan

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Richarlison will not “come good” at Tottenham amid doubts over his future.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 26-year-old doesn’t have any “standout attributes”.

Football Insider revealed last week (20 June) that new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to add a new wide forward this summer.

The Australian has doubts over the output and fitness of Richarlison – who managed just one Premier League goal last term.

Tottenham paid a reported £60million to bring him to London but he notched just three goals and four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

The Brazil international’s best one-season return came for Everton in the 2019-20 campaign, when he managed 15 goals in 41 games.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I can’t see him coming good.

“I don’t see any standout attributes in his game.

“If you ask any Spurs fan – what are the best areas of Richarlison’s game? They wouldn’t know.

“He’s not quick, he’s not strong. He isn’t great in the air, or a great finisher.

“He has had two big moves but hasn’t taken a step forward in either of them.

“Yes, he scored a decent goal at the World Cup – but he’s clearly not doing that for Tottenham.

“I don’t think he’s the man to help Spurs back into the top four.”

Tottenham are reportedly close to completing a deal for Leicester City and England star James Maddison.

Richarlison started in 17 of his 34 Spurs appearances last term.
