Agbonlahor shares verdict on Kyle Walker quitting Man City – ‘he’ll be angry’

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Kyle Walker will snub a Man City exit despite his “anger” at being dropped for the Champions League final earlier this month.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, backed the 33-year-old to stay where he is “settled” and “go again” for more trophies in the 2023-24 campaign.

Football Insider revealed last week (24 June) that Man City are set to discuss a new contract with Walker amid strong interest from Bayern Munich.

The German giants are believed to be planning to offer the right-back a longer-term deal than the one on offer at the Etihad Stadium.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a “big fan” of Walker – who currently has 12 months left to run on his contract.

He made 39 appearances across all competitions for Man City in a historic 2022-23 campaign which saw them win the treble – but was dropped for the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think he’ll want to go.

“He’s just won the treble. Yes, in the second half of the season, he didn’t play as much and he’ll be disappointed.

“He’ll be angry at being dropped for the Champions League final, but he’s at a top club and he’s settled.

“It will be tempting, trying something new at Bayern with Tuchel.

“But I do think he’d rather stay in the Premier League with Pep and go again next season.”

In other news, Man City lay groundwork for two box-office deals.
