Agbonlahor slams ‘arrogant’ Jon Moss after Nottingham Forest controversy – ‘I came across him’
Jon Moss will not be missed after Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s (29 May) Championship play-off final marked his retirement as a referee.
That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England attacker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “arrogant” 51-year-old.
Moss was given the Wembley game as a final swansong after officiating his final Premier League game when Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 earlier this month.
His final game was not without controversy as he waved away two strong appeals for penalties by Huddersfield Town towards the end of the game.
The Telegraph reported last month (28 April) that Moss is now set to become the new manager of the select group one referees who look after Premier League games.
“I came across him, he wasn’t one of the better ones, he was one of the arrogant ones,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He won’t be missed. Referees like Moss and Mike Dean will not be missed by managers and players in the Premier League, to be honest.
“As bad as it sounds, it’s good riddance.
“Dean was the worst, he was very arrogant. He thought he was [Pierluigi] Collina of English refereeing.”
“He couldn’t talk to you, very arrogant. That’s why nobody has given him a good send off in his last game. It’s more like good riddance, Mike.”

Dean, 53, has also hung up his whistle but will not take up a role within football.
Martin Atkinson is the third senior referee to retire this summer and he will assist Moss in his role with the SG1 referees.
In other news, an ex-Fifa official has issued an ‘unbelievable’ Jon Moss claim after what he’s seen at Nottingham Forest.
