Agbonlahor suggests teammates do not trust Tottenham star Hugo Lloris after new controversy
Kylian Mbappe and the rest of the France squad know Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is “useless” at saving penalties, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Lloris could not save a penalty against a “10-year-old”.
The Tottenham goalkeeper, who turns 36 on Boxing Day, conceded all four spot-kicks he faced in France’s shootout loss to Argentina in the World Cup final last week (18 December).
The shootout was marred by controversy as Emiliano Martinez did everything to put off his opponents and was shown a yellow card as a result of his antics while Lloris did not engage in any mind games.
The 145-cap international has now not saved any of the nine penalties he has faced in major tournaments with France.
“France sort of knew they were going to lose the shootout,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“When you looked at Mbappe’s face at the end of extra time, they knew their goalkeeper couldn’t save a penalty if a 10-year-old was taking it.
“Lloris is useless at saving penalties.
“Martinez is so good, he’s so big and broad and has such a good record at penalties.
“There was no way France were winning that penalty shootout.”

Lloris‘ focus will now turn to Tottenham duty but it remains to be seen whether he will start against Brentford on Boxing Day.
Cristian Romero, who was involved in an altercation with his club teammate during the final, will likely miss the game after lifting the trophy with Argentina.
In other news, a club is close to signing a Tottenham sensation and a 1 January move is expected.
