Agbonlahor sure about Everton signing Andre Ayew after source reveals new contact
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Everton target Andre Ayew will be nowhere near Premier League level after spending five years outside the English top flight.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Toffees fans are right to air their “frustrations” about the club’s transfer failures in the January window.
Sources told Football Insider on Wednesday (1 February) that Everton are working on an out-of-window deal to sign free agent Ayew and are in contact with the player’s camp.

The Toffees have earmarked the Ghana international as a back-up option after multiple deals for attackers fell through during the January window.
Ayew was released by Qatari club Al-Sadd on Sunday (29 January) after scoring 22 goals in 18 months at the club.
The former Swansea and West Ham star notched 21 goals and 12 assists in 89 Premier League appearances.
Everton are 19th in the Premier League and will play their first game under Sean Dyche’s stewardship against Arsenal on Saturday (4 February).
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Not at all.
“He’s 33. He had a successful career in the Premier League, but, I can tell you this, he won’t be at the level anymore.

“He’s not the signing they should have been looking for. You just look at that Everton side and wonder where he could fit in.
“Everton fans will be so frustrated that they didn’t bring in any quality in the window, and rightly so.”
