Agbonlahor ‘sure’ about Jarrod Bowen forcing Newcastle move – ‘West Ham are costing him’
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Jarrod Bowen should force through a move to Newcastle if the Champions League contenders came in for him this summer.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed West Ham are “costing” the 26-year-old a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
According to talkSPORT (7 April), Newcastle are interested in signing Bowen this summer – three years after they first rivalled West Ham for his signature.
Sources told this site on 23 March that the Irons are expecting bids for the England international forward in the summer window.
Bowen has not managed to maintain his electric scoring form from the 2021-22 campaign but is still averaging a goal every four games across his 39 appearances this term.
Newcastle could offer Champions League football as they remain in the race with Man United, Tottenham and Brighton for a top-four berth.
Bowen’s reported £60,000-a-week contract at West Ham runs until June 2025.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’d suit Newcastle.
“I just feel sorry for Bowen at the moment. When I watch West Ham recently, he’s the only one still standing out.
“He’s still beating his man, getting the ball in, trying to create. Put him in that Newcastle squad and he’d get double figures in the league.

“I think West Ham are costing him his England place at the moment.
“I’m sure Bowen would look to force a move if Newcastle came in.”
