Agbonlahor ‘sure’ about Newcastle United pulling Jorginho U-turn after source’s January reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Newcastle United should reconsider the signing of Jorginho after turning down the chance to bring him to St James’ Park.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 31-year-old could be an ideal addition for the Magpies as long as they aren’t looking for a “tough-tackling midfielder”.
Sources told this site last week (28 December) that Newcastle United have ruled out the signing of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho after shortlisting the Italy international.

It is understood that the Magpies feel he is too old for their project as they prefer to sign players under 30.
Jorginho, who has won the Champions League and Uefa’s Best Player award during his five-year spell at Chelsea, is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June.
Nevertheless, he remains a key component of Graham Potter’s side – scoring three goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.
When asked if Jorginho has something to offer despite his age, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he can, for sure.
“He’s got that composure on the ball; I really like how he keeps it and uses it, and he’s good at starting moves off.
“But it depends on what Newcastle want from a midfielder. He’s not someone who can win the ball back.

“He’s good at a lot of things, but he’s not going to be that tough-tackling player who can do the dirty work in that area.
“I think he’s got the trophies and the experience to be a worthwhile signing.”
