Agbonlahor swipes at Buendia after he ‘goes missing’ at Aston Villa

Emiliano Buendia needs to stop going missing for Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Buendia’s quality is clear to see but he has to maintain it over 90 minutes.

The attacker laid on his third assist of the season in Villa’s 2-1 loss to Brentford on Sunday (2 January).

However, according to sofascore, he lost the most duels (11) of any player and lost possession (3) more times than anybody else.

“The turn from Buendia was a bit of class as well so that’s better for him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The movement from Ings, ready to run in behind and taking the shot early, that’s what he’s done his whole career. That will give him the confidence to get back to scoring. It was a pleasure to see.

“But then Buendia goes quiet after 55 minutes. You want to see him for 90 minutes. Can a player be in a game for 90 minutes? With Buendia, you never see him in a game for 90 minutes. He goes missing.

“Steven Gerrard will want to get more out of him. Yes, you got a great assist but can you go and get a goal? Can you go and get another assist? Can you be in a game for more than 50 minutes? That’s what he’s got to do next.

“I still want more. I can see how talented he is but I want to see more. I’m sure the manager will too.”
