Agbonlahor tells Philippe Coutinho to quit Aston Villa after source’s ‘huge offer’ reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Philippe Coutinho to quit Aston Villa in the summer window after a disappointing first full season at the club.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 30-year-old is not giving Unai Emery a selection “headache” with his below-par performances.

Sources told this site on Monday (3 April) that a Saudi Arabian club has a strong interest in Aston Villa star Coutinho ahead of the summer window and are planning a “huge” offer.

It is believed the Midlands giants could well let Coutinho go for a bargain fee despite him arriving at the club just last summer (2022).

The former Liverpool star earns a reported wage of £125,000-a-week at Villa Park – making him the best-paid player at the club.

Despite his handsome pay packet, Coutinho has managed just one goal in 22 appearances across all competitions this term.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think it’s time for Villa to cut their losses.

“He’s had a couple of decent games this season, but when he’s out of the side – no one is talking about him.

“He’s not giving Unai Emery a headache.

“Buendia is getting consecutive games now and he’s showing he can get goals and assists – something Coutinho hasn’t done.

“This transfer hasn’t worked, and I think it’d be best for him to go and play week-in, week-out while he still can.”

Buendia has notched five goals and two assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

Villa could secure European qualification this season after their glittering recent form.
