Agbonlahor tips Liverpool for ‘£100m+’ signing after source’s ‘huge’ reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Liverpool can “do a lot better” than signing Adrien Rabiot on a summer free transfer.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Merseysiders need “quality not quantity” – and urged them to sign Jude Bellingham for “£100million-plus”.

Sources told this site on Wednesday (8 March) that Liverpool have joined Premier League rivals Man City and Man United in the race for Juventus star Rabiot as they plot a midfield overhaul this summer.

The France international is out of contract in June and it is believed he will demand a “huge” deal as he looks to cash in on his free-agent status.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 5 March that top summer target Bellingham could cost Liverpool around £120million this summer.

Reds trio James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are all out of contract at Anfield in June.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think they can do a lot better than Rabiot.

“I do like him as a player – but it’s not worked for him at Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s not worked for him at Juventus.

“Liverpool have signed Arthur Melo already, and he wasn’t wanted by Juve. They should be going out and getting players in their best form, who are wanted by their clubs.

“Rabiot played in the World Cup and did well, but I feel like they can do better.

“If they make only one signing this summer and spend £100million-plus on Jude Bellingham – that would be enough.

“They need quality, not quantity.”
