Agbonlahor: Tottenham backed to sign Richarlison ally after confirmed news

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Tottenham need to sign another attacker capable of playing across the frontline because of their constant injury problems.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Richarlison suffered a major setback.

Football.London reported last week (17 December) that Richarlison will be out for up to six weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury in Brazil’s World Cup quarter-final defeat to Croatia earlier this month (3 December).

Antonio Conte confirmed via club media earlier this week (20 December) that the 25-year-old was set to undergo an MRI scan on the issue.

The forward also missed six of Spurs’ games just before the break with a calf injury.

Tottenham were without Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski at various points during the first half of the campaign while Harry Kane started all of their 22 games across all competitions before the break.

“Spurs seem to have one of those front four always injured,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Maybe need they one more. They are going to play so many games with the Champions League and FA Cup, maybe they need one more and that’s something Antonio Conte will be looking at.

“You need to have options from the bench, that’s what Spurs don’t really have when they’ve got their injury problems.”

Conte’s side resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brentford on Boxing Day in a London derby.

They sit fourth in the table, 10 points behind league leaders and north London rivals Arsenal.

In other news, a club is close to signing a Tottenham sensation and a 1 January move is expected.
