Agbonlahor: Unai Emery backed to bomb out Aston Villa big names after source’s ‘huge’ reveal
Every Aston Villa player is “fighting for their future” under Unai Emery, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed some players showed “Championship quality” in the 4-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday (29 October).
Sources told Football Insider last week (27 October) that the club’s owners are set to hand Emery a “huge” transfer kitty for the January and summer transfer windows in 2023.
Emery officially started work on Wednesday (2 November) after a minor issue with his work permit was resolved.
“Players aren’t showing consistency,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They look like world beaters against Brentford and then Championship quality against Newcastle.
“Emery has got the players there, maybe there are a few changes needed.
“Players have got to turn up in more than just one game. Try and get two or three games in a row where you can put performances together.
“A lot of these players are at risk of being sold or put out on loan.
“I would say that every single player is fighting for their Aston Villa future.
“That’s the fear as a player when a new manager comes in, are they going to want you? Are they going to fancy you?
“Unai Emery is the sort of manager who will make bold decisions to try and get his team into Europe.”

Emery’s first game in charge is the visit of Man United on Sunday (6 November).
Their only other Premier League game before the break for the World Cup is a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion (13 November).
