Agbonlahor: Wolves are ‘panicking’ as Diego Costa image emerges
Diego Costa is “miles off it” and is a “panic” signing by Wolves, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Wolves should have begun the campaign with three senior strikers to deal with any potential injury problems.
Bruno Lage currently does not have any fit senior strikers after Sasa Kalajdzic picked up an ACL injury in the 1-0 win over Southampton last weekend (3 September) on his debut.
Raul Jimenez was not in the matchday squad after picking up a groin injury in the warm up.
That has prompted the club to look at the free agent market to solve the crisis.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday (8 September) that Costa had agreed a one-year deal at Molineux after completing a medical and he has been pictured in club training kit.
There were worries the 33-year-old would not be able to get a work permit after being without a club since January after leaving Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro.
“I think it’s panic stations at Wolves, it’s bad planning,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They should have three strikers available. Look at Aston Villa with Ings, Archer and Watkins. If you do get a bad injury, like someone getting an ACL, you’ve got a replacement and are not making a panic signing like Diego Costa.
“We all know Diego Costa is miles off it now. His legs aren’t the same at all.
“They’re panicking and should have prepared better.”

Costa last played for Chelsea in the Premier League at the end of the 2016-17 season.
The Spain international found the net 52 times in 89 top-flight games for the Blues.
