Agbonlahor: Wolves tipped to make manager U-turn after Steve Davis ‘sackable offence’
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Wolves to appoint a new manager during the World Cup break.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Steve Davis should be sacked after losing 4-0 to Leicester City at Molineux on Sunday (23 October).
Davis has been in interim charge after Bruno Lage was sacked at the beginning of October.
Wolves confirmed last week (20 October) that Davies will remain in charge for the rest of the calendar year.
“They’ve done that because nobody wants the job,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Look at Aston Villa, a big, big club and who do we go and get? The best available.
“Wolves haven’t got that pulling power, they are not as big of a club as Aston Villa, they’ve not got the history and they’ve struggled to get a manager in who wants the job.
“Managers have probably looked at their squad of players and thought ‘They are in for a battle’, they are relying on Diego Costa who is a million miles off it.
“To give the manager the job until 2023, I understand because there’s not a lot of games left of this year so they are thinking when the World Cup comes, they can start looking properly.
“To lose 4-0 at home to Leicester is probably a sacking offence on its own, the way Leicester are performing.

“Wolves are in a real big battle this season and they’ve got to be very careful because they need wins as soon as possible.
“They might bring in a manager during the World Cup for the Boxing Day game. It doesn’t make sense to wait all the way until 2023.”
