Ake will ‘jump’ at signing for West Ham ‘after what’s happened’ – pundit

Nathan Ake should follow in Kurt Zouma’s footsteps and join West Ham in January.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers’ transfer business.

As reported by 90 Min (2 December), West Ham are likely to push for a loan-to-buy deal for Ake, 26, next month as David Moyes looks for defensive reinforcements.

However, Football Insider revealed (27 November) Manchester City are not planning on listening to offers for the defender.

Kenny insists Ake, who cost City £41m in 2019, would “jump” at the chance to join West Ham after Zouma’s success since joining from Chelsea.

“He’s had a great career so far,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Obviously he started at Chelsea and then did really well at Bournemouth.

“Then he’s got his dream move to Manchester City and it hasn’t really worked out for him.

“I’m sure if the option comes for him to leave, after what’s happened to Zouma, he will jump at it.

“He’s a quality player needs regular football at his age. With the injuries West Ham have I’m sure he will get it.

“I’m sure he wants to play football. He would also strengthen West Ham and what a move that would be for them.

“It would really show their intentions to the rest of the league.”

West Ham

Ake has made 10 appearances for City this season.

Zouma has made 12 appearances for the Hammers since joining the club last summer (2021).
