Alan Hutton makes ‘amazing’ Nicolo Zaniolo claim after Aston Villa deal agreed

Unai Emery is the perfect manager to turn Nicolo Zaniolo into an Aston Villa sensation.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Villa defender Alan Hutton has claimed that the Spaniard’s style of play will get the best out of Zaniolo after he joined the club.

The Italian made the switch to Villa on a loan-to-buy deal that could total £36.6million following a successful, if brief, stint in Turkey where he scored five goals in 10 league appearances.

Before this, he was a regular in Jose Mourinho’s Roma side and scored the winning goal in their Europa Conference League final triumph in 2021/22. However, his time in Italy unravelled following a drop in form, injury issues

With Zaniolo signing for Villa, Hutton believes that the Italian will be a good signing for the Premier League side.

“I think Emery can get the best out of him,” he told Football Insider.

“I think he has got those kind of qualities about him where he lets the player, be free and be dynamic in his game, but structured also.

“And I think when he was at Roma he looked a very technically gifted player, kind of like when he picks up those interesting positions on the pitch and he’s allowed to go and express himself.

“So I think that’s the kind of profile that that the manager will be looking for.

“And I’m pretty sure given the time and effort put him, he’ll be able to show he’s an amazing player.”
