Alan Shearer sends new message to Erling Haaland after his Premier League record is smashed
Alan Shearer has delivered a message of support to Erling Haaland after he broke yet another record on Tuesday night.
The Norwegian netted the opener for Manchester City in their remarkable 5-4 win away at Fulham, and that goal saw him claim another Premier League record.
His latest strike at Craven Cottage has carried the striker to 100 Premier League goals, a tally that he has reached from just 111 games, making him the fastest player to ever reach the triple-digit mark.
Chris Sutton has been left in disbelief by Haaland’s achievement, and now it has been Shearer’s turn to give his take on the ex-Borussia Dortmund star’s latest exploit.

Alan Shearer’s message to Erling Haaland on X
Shearer has become accustomed to heaping praise on Haaland while analysing his performances on Match of the Day, and he has watched on as the 25-year-old has made the records tumble in recent years.
The former Newcastle United frontman was the previous holder of the recent feat to have been achieved by Haaland, having netted his first 100 top-flight strikes in just 13 more appearances than the City star.
Haaland posted a photo of himself holding up a shirt with “100 Goals” written on the back to his X account on Wednesday afternoon, and Shearer has now issued a message of support to him.
The 55-year-old congratulated the Man City man on his X account, writing: “Well done Erling. Your numbers are incredible man. Keep up your great work.”
Alan Shearer’s future Erling Haaland fear
Shearer’s Premier League goal record is a source of great pride for him, but he will surely be concerned that Haaland will threaten that in the years to come.
The division’s top scorer has held the record ever since he finished his playing career back in 2006, and many deem his tally of 260 strikes to be a figure that will simply never be beaten.
However, given the pace that Haaland’s goalscoring has begun at since his move to the Etihad Stadium back in 2022, Shearer will surely be fearing the worst as far as his ultimate accolade is concerned.
Haaland penned a new nine-and-a-half-year contract at the end of January, and if he were to see out the entire length of that deal, then it certainly hard to imagine a world where the 260-goal record doesn’t end up being smashed through.
The City hero is already part of the elusive 100 club, and this is surely just the beginning of his exploits in front of goal.
