‘Alejandro Garnacho’s Man United exit now in jeopardy’: ‘Idiotic play’
Man United star Alejandro Garnacho has come under fire for his social media antics while he looks set for an Old Trafford exit.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, 22 June, Garnacho shared a photo of himself wearing a Marcus Rashford Aston Villa shirt.
Like the Argentina international, Rashford appears set to leave Man United this summer after hitting a rich vein of form on loan with Villa.
Despite notching 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions last season, Garnacho was told to leave Old Trafford by Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho slammed for antics as Man United exit cast into doubt
Even though Garnacho is headed for the Man United exit door, the 20-year-old featured in post-season tour matches against the ASEAN All Stars and Hong Kong last month.
But the winger has now attracted more attention for his off-field exploits than his performances on the pitch.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [23 June], Simon Jordan fumed: “Garnacho and his little antics. He’s at it, isn’t he? They (Rashford and Garnacho) are two little kids trying to get a reaction on social media and probably laughing at the reaction that they’re getting.
“If any owner ever rocked up to the manager on the basis of a troublesome player that could be gotten for a cut fee, then they’re an idiot.
“That’s an idiotic play. Why would an owner want to make it all simply about hang on a second, I can get some money saving on this player, but I’m going to inherit a whole raft of problems.
“That kind of ownership model is a stupid ownership model.”
Jim White then asked Jordan: “Would you fine Garnacho for this?”
The former Crystal Palace replied: “Yeah, I probably would.”
Garnacho may have put transfer suitors off his services
Football Insider verdict
Garnacho has often shown his quality during his Man United career, and notched an impressive return of 21 goal contributions last term.
Alejandro Garnacho stats | All competitions 2024/25 |
Appearances | 58 |
Goals | 11 |
Assists | 10 |
However, the Argentina international’s decision to pose in an Aston Villa shirt while still being under contract at Old Trafford portrays him as unprofessional.
As alluded to by Jordan, owners in the Premier League and beyond could be unwilling to sign a player who has now attracted plenty of attention for his off-field exploits.
While Garnacho’s behaviour has stemmed from the fact that he is unhappy at Man United, there is no guarantee that he would conduct himself differently at a new club.
Therefore, potential suitors could now look elsewhere as opposed to landing a deal for the former Atletico Madrid academy player.
Meanwhile, football finance expert Dan Plumley exclusively told Football Insider that Man United’s summer clear-out is being driven by Amorim as opposed to financial reasons.
