Alejandro Garnacho sends heartfelt message to fans after he made his first Chelsea start

Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho shared a message to supporters after he made his full debut for the side in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea came from behind to beat Lincoln City and advanced to the next round of the League Cup on 23 September.

There was early concern as the Blues conceded right before half-time, with a mix-up between Enzo Fernandez and Trevoh Chalobah gifting the visitors the opener.

However, goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte earned the win as the side avoided any early cup exit fears.

Garnacho was awarded his first start for the club, but the winger had been substituted off in the 61st minute. Still, despite not completing the full 90 minutes, he was upbeat on social media to send supporters a message.

Garnacho posted on Instagram after the game with a positive message after making his first start, saying: “Happy to be in the next round. Can’t wait to see you at home on Saturday”.

He wasn’t the only player to share a reaction following the victory, as Wesley Fofana directed a humorous message at Filip Jorgensen after the two collided in the box when the goalkeeper came out to punch the ball clear.

For the Argentine, he has made previous appearances but only short cameos against Brentford and Bayern Munich.

Garnacho had joined Chelsea in the summer from Man United in a fee worth £40 million after the winger fell out of favour with Ruben Amorim.

Reports claimed Garnacho clashed with Amorim towards the end of last season, with the United boss even allegedly telling him: “You better pray that you can find a club to sign you.”

He was an unused substitute in his return to Old Trafford, but it seems as if he is being eased into the team.

Chelsea competition could limit Alejandro Garnacho’s minutes

Despite Garnacho making it clear he only wanted Chelsea in the summer, he faces competition for positions after the side’s busy window.

Pedro Neto has been the first-team left winger, leaving Garnacho to pick up short cameos off the bench and fight for his position.

This could mean limited minutes if his performances don’t improve, but the League Cup will provide the perfect opportunity for him to establish himself.
