Fulham reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a statement victory against Man United at Old Trafford on Sunday (2 March).

Marco Silva’s side defeated the Premier League giants via a penalty shootout after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw through normal and extra time.

Calvin Bassey made history for himself by scoring his first-ever FA Cup goal in the first half, in what was actually his first-ever game in the competition.

Bruno Fernandes eventually equalised in the 71st minute, but Fulham earned their place in the next round via a penalty shootout.

The result left United fans calling for Ruben Amorim to be fired as frustrations continue to mount at Old Trafford, with the Europa League now being their only chance for silverware.

Fulham’s FA Cup journey will continue against Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals as both teams attempt to book a trip to Wembley for their fans.

Alex Iwobi was impressed by Calvin Bassey’s performance

Fulham fans were left surprised by Bassey being the man to get on the scoresheet as this was only his second goal of the season.

However, Alex Iwobi was quick to celebrate his Fulham teammate and he took to Instagram to do so.

He said, “Next Round! @cbasseyy Pounded Yam For Recovery, E Dey For House!”

Fulham are continuing to have an impressive season

The FA Cup win was the latest positive step for Silva’s team, who are currently enjoying an excellent season.

Fulham find themselves ninth in the Premier League at the moment after the first 27 games, having only lost seven times in the competition.

Silva’s side have a real chance of securing European football this season if they’re now able to hold their nerve for the run-in.
