Alex Lowry: £12m Rangers done deal cited after latest in Man City and Newcastle race – pundit
Alex McLeish has suggested Newcastle United or Manchester City could make Rangers an offer they cannot refuse amid talks to sign Alex Lowry.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Ibrox boss insisted the Light Blues would find it tough to turn down a “big money” bid for the 18-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (18 April), Newcastle recruitment chief held talks with Lowry’s agent earlier this month.

A recruitment source told this site Man City have also had discussions with the teenager’s camp.
Rangers are keen to keep Lowry and have offered him a £5,000-a-week contract to remain after he knocked back their opening offer.
However, McLeish admitted Premier League sides may be able to tempt the Gers into selling.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “We’ve seen it with Patterson. We saw that in the end, they couldn’t resist that offer from Everton.
“You’d expect it to be the same again if English Premier League clubs come with their big money. It’s going to be hard to turn down offers.
“Rangers will probably, now and again, want to balance the books with the fact they’ll be really chuffed they’re bringing good youngsters through.
“Ultimately though, you want to see them playing for Rangers.”
As detailed by Football Insider, Patterson signed a £28,000-a-week contract to complete a £12million, rising to £16million in add-ons, move to Everton.

Lowry has played four times for Rangers’ senior side to date.
He scored on his first-team debut against Stirling Albion earlier this season.
