Alex Lowry: Expert tells Rangers sensation to snub Premier League move amid ‘100%’ verdict – ‘wow’

Rangers sensation Alex Lowry should turn down interest from Man City and Newcastle and look for guaranteed game time, according to Frank McAvennie.

The former Scotland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 18-year-old needs a move to a club where he can “realise his potential”.

This site revealed (21 April) that Man City are rivalling Newcastle in the race to sign Rangers midfield star Lowry this summer.

Football Insider also revealed (11 April) the Glasgow giants have offered the starlet new contract worth £5,000-a-week after he turned down their first offer.

Lowry has made just four senior appearances for Rangers.

McAvennie suggested the youngster could be loaned back to the Ibrox club if a Premier League move goes through this summer.

“It’s hard to turn down but he won’t be getting game time down there either,” he told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“If you’re not getting in the Rangers team, you won’t be getting in either of their teams.

“He should be going somewhere where he can play every week, 100%.

“They could arrange to loan him back to Rangers. But he needs to impress between now and the end of the season if he’s going to get into that team, because he’s nowhere near it.

“If Man City and Newcastle are interested, then wow – he’s gonna get a bit of money there.

“But he needs to go somewhere where he can realise that potential, and I don’t think it’s going to be at either of those clubs.”
