
Alexander-Arnold sends emotional tribute message to Diogo Jota
Trent Alexander-Arnold has become the latest player to share an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota following the tragic news of his death.
The former Liverpool defender played alongside Jota for the entirety of the Portuguese forward’s five-year spell at Anfield, following his move from Wolves in 2020.
Alexander-Arnold joins the likes of Roberto Firmino and former manager Jurgen Klopp in paying tribute to Jota, as the football world continues to come to pay tribute with his sudden passing.
It was confirmed that he and his younger brother, Andre Silva, were killed in a car accident on 3 July while travelling in the Zamora region of Spain.
Reports have since revealed the pair were on their way to catch a ferry after Jota had been advised against flying due to undergoing minor surgery in recent days.
Alexander-Arnold is the latest of many current and former teammates to share their heartbreak and remember Jota’s contribution both on and off the pitch.

The England right-back shared a heartfelt message following the devastating loss of his former teammate Jota and his younger brother with a pst on Instagram and said:
“It’s so difficult to find the right words when your head and heart are struggling to accept that someone you care so much about has gone.
“Diogo, your family was your world. They were everything. For Rute, his children, and his parents, all of our hearts are broken. And for Andre as well. Brothers and best friends.
“When it’s less painful, I want to remember Diogo with a big smile. So many laughs and happy moments. He was such a great teammate and a true friend.
“Forever number 20. Rest in peace, Diogo.”
The pair played together at Liverpool for five seasons, making 144 appearances as teammates before Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.
During their time on the pitch, they combined for 10 goals, sharing in major success by lifting the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Real Madrid also paid tribute, holding a minute’s silence before training in memory of both Jota and Silva.

Jota played a crucial role in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign under new manager Arne Slot last season, contributing 13 goals and assists across competitions.
In total, he made 182 appearances for the Reds, scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists, becoming a fan favourite for his consistency and passion.
Alexander-Arnold’s tribute followed Liverpool’s own statement, with the club confirming Jota’s number 20 shirt will be “immortalised” at Anfield.
Former teammate Firmino also shared an emotional message, saying: “It was a privilege and an honour to have known and lived such special moments alongside you. Rest in peace to my brother Jota, and Andre.”
Before his time at Anfield, Jota left an unforgettable mark at Wolves, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League and later securing European football.
Wolves and Liverpool supporters have gathered outside their respective stadiums, laying flowers and tributes as fans, clubs and players across the footballing world continue to mourn a player who will never be forgotten.
