‘Alexander Isak could impact Anthony Gordon joining Liverpool, this is how’
Liverpool could accelerate their plans to sign Newcastle star Anthony Gordon in the summer transfer window and are keeping tabs on his performances.
The 24-year-old scored four goals as Newcastle enjoyed a 6-1 win against Qarabag in the Champions League, taking his tally to 14 goals for the season.
However, Mick Brown told Football Insider that a move for Gordon will only happen if the price is right for Liverpool, who are unlikely to pay over £100million.
Despite his dominant performance against Qarabag, the England international has endured a frustrating season, leading to questions about his position at Newcastle.
Liverpool were placed on alert over his potential availability and are long-term admirers of his, but the Alexander Isak situation will see them be more cautious in their spending.

Liverpool set sights on cut-price Anthony Gordon deal
Brown told Football Insider on 16 February that Liverpool are considering a move to sign Gordon this summer as they eye replacements for Mohamed Salah.
The England international’s stock remains high despite his difficult season, with Newcastle unlikely to let him leave for a reduced fee, leading to doubts over a move.
“Liverpool will have to be cautious with their spending,” Brown told Football Insider.
“When you look at the business they did last summer, Isak struggled to make a difference and then picked up this injury which has made matters worse.
“Wirtz took his time to adapt and is just about coming into it now.
“I think Liverpool will be reluctant to spend upwards of £100million on another player given what happened with both of them and the risks involved.
“Especially given the season he’s had, Gordon isn’t showing he’s worth that kind of money other than in one-off displays, there hasn’t been that consistency you want to see.
“Liverpool are interested in him, they have been for a while, but if the price tag is going to be too much then I think they’ll be prepared to walk away.
“It will only be done at a price that suits them, so whether that’s possible or not we’ll have to wait and see.
“I’ve been disappointed with him this season, though, and I’m sure these clubs will feel the same in terms of his performances and whether he deserves a huge move.”
Liverpool line up replacements for Mohamed Salah
Speculation about the Reds reigniting their interest in Gordon comes amid renewed speculation surrounding the future of Salah at Anfield.
Football Insider first revealed in October that Liverpool are planning to replace Salah and have Gordon in their sights as a potential replacement for him.
Antoine Semenyo was also on their list of targets before his mid-season move to Man City, where he has proved to be a major success so far.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 15 February that Salah is expected to leave Liverpool come the summer despite his scintillating display against Brighton.
After what has been a difficult spell for the Egypt international, he turned in a fantastic performance and scored in their 3-0 FA Cup victory.
