Alexander Isak having ‘nightmare’ at Newcastle United after new update – pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed Alexander Isak is having a “nightmare” at Newcastle United after another injury setback.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Isak may have been coming back “too soon” from his first injury.

Speaking to club media (18 October), Eddie Howe said the 23-year-old has suffered a setback on his thigh injury and is unlikely to return to the side before the World Cup.

The striker initially picked up the problem during training with Sweden in September’s international break.

Hutton said Isak’s injury is a personal blow, as well as a problem for the Magpies.

It is obviously a big blow,” he told Football Insider.

To have your record transfer has come in and really hit the ground running, to pick up an injury and then a set back. Was he coming back too soon?

I know how footballers work, in their mind they just want to get back on the grass and think they will be fine. Then something happens again.

It is a nightmare, not just for the club but for the player himself to have a setback. Mentally it can be very tough to go back to square one when you think you are almost there.

I think this time round you probably have to take your time and make sure it is 100 per cent ok before you test him on the grass. At this moment in time, as long as they keep Callum Wilson fit that will obviously help.
