Alexandro Bernabei ‘has played his last game for Celtic’

Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei is “unlikely to play for the club again”, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 24-year-old ‘doesn’t have a long-term future’ at Celtic after a disappointing 18 months at the club.

The left-back struggled to make an impact in Glasgow, managing just 29 appearances over one and a half seasons, winning the Scottish Premier League in 2022-23.

Bernabei is currently on loan at Brazilian side Internacional where he has managed to recapture some form, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his upturn in form, Brendan Rodgers is understood to be sceptical about reintegrating him back into the squad.

Alexandro Bernabei no longer in Celtic plans

The Scottish champions appear to have moved on from Bernabei, bringing Alex Valle in on loan from Barcelona to compete with first-choice left-back Greg Taylor.

Rodgers’ side will try to recoup some of the £4million they forked out on the Argentinian back in 2022 once he returned from his loan in January.

Bernabei and Internacional have had an impressive campaign, currently sitting fifth with only seven games remaining in the Brazilian top flight.

Celtic appear set for a fourth consecutive league title, leading the table with nine wins, one draw, and no defeats in their first 10 games.
