Alexandro Bernabei will regret ‘moment of madness’ after Celtic news confirmed – McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has insisted Alexandro Bernabei will regret his recent red card ahead of his move to Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Hoops striker said the left-back will have more freedom playing in Scotland.

According to Football Scotland (22 June), the Argentine Football Association could include the 21-year-old’s suspension in the transfer certificate.

If so, Bernabei will have to serve his red card suspension in Scotland at the start of next season.

As a result, he will have to wait until Celtic’s third game of the season to make his debut.

McAvennie urged fans not to hold the sending off against Beranbei.

We’ve all done stupid things on the pitch. You can’t really hold it against him it was a moment of madness.” he told Football Insider.

“He’ll regret it as soon as he walked down the tunnel. Doesn’t matter what kind of personality you are, when you do something like that it’s a reaction and he’ll regret it as soon as he walked down the tunnel.

He’ll have been punished for it.

But I think there will be a few more wayward tackles in Argentina than what he will get in Scotland. The referees come down hard on the tackles up here so he’ll have a bit more freedom.

The Argentinian made 15 appearances across all competitions for former club Lanus last season.

He scored two goals and provided two assists.

He also received three yellow cards and one red card during the 21/22 season.
