Alexis Mac Allister: Big update on Liverpool star man – sources
Alexis Mac Allister has no plans to leave the club amid recent reports of a release clause in his Liverpool contract, sources have told Football Insider.
According to reports in his native Argentina, Mac Allister is available via a release clause worth £60million in the upcoming summer transfer window.
It has also been claimed that La Liga champions Real Madrid are keen on a potential move for the midfielder.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Mac Allister is not planning to quit Liverpool – despite the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
It is believed the former Brighton star is keen to hit the ground running under new manager Arne Slot when the 2024-25 campaign kicks off.
The 25-year-old is also set to play for Argentina at this summer’s Copa America.
Mac Allister to stay at Liverpool despite £60m release clause latest
Mac Allister played 46 times in his debut season for Liverpool, starting in 40 of those outings.
The midfield star, who played in a variety of roles for Klopp’s side, notched seven goals and seven assists in the 2023-24 campaign.
He is under contract at Anfield until June 2028 after joining from Brighton last summer (2023) for an initial fee of just £35million.
Liverpool finished third in the Premier League this term after seeing their title challenge fizzle out in the season’s final months.
Alongside Mac Allister, Slot will also have the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott to work with in midfield.
