Alexis Mac Allister reacts to Lautaro Martinez’s ‘bitterness’ Inter message
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has reacted to Lautaro Martinez’s emotional message to Inter supporters.
Martinez played every minute of his side’s Champions League final clash with PSG, but could not prevent the Serie A giants from suffering a 5-0 defeat.
Inter are set for a summer of change after manager Simone Inzaghi left the San Siro to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
The 2024 Serie A winners were also unable to retain their top-flight title, as they finished one point behind freshly crowned champions Napoli.

Liverpool star Mac Allister reacts as Martinez apologises to Inter fans
Martinez watched on as an unused substitute as Argentina defeated Chile 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, 6 June.
On the same day, the 27-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Hello dear fans, I am writing you this message after a few days because the sadness, disappointment, and bitterness after Saturday’s game have been and will still be some hard feelings to digest.
“I apologise to all of you for not being able to give you what was the dream of all of us.
“I want to thank all the black and blue people who were in Monaco, in San Siro, and around the world. You are always unique. In football, the trophies won count, it’s undeniable! But I also think that to bring our team back to the Champions final with so many sacrifices for twice in the last three years means a lot.
“We fought to relive these emotions, to win titles and to live unforgettable nights like that 22nd of April.
“Since the first day I arrived in Milan, all my companions and I have worked for Inter to find its place in history, for it to return to where it deserves to be.
“There are days when being honest is easy, others when it is obligatory, and days when being one is an honour.
“Today, for all of us, it is obligatory to be one. Today, more than ever, I am proud to wear this jersey and to be the captain of this team, of this group.”

Liverpool tipped to hijack Man City’s Rayan Cherki deal

Liverpool are closing in on Florian Wirtz, who is set to add more attacking quality to Slot’s side, having excelled with former club Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
After the Merseyside giants lost the Carabao Cup final and were knocked out of the Champions League this term, the 22-year-old will be eager to make a difference across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Manchester City look set to sign Rayan Cherki, who has notched 12 goals and 20 assists for French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon this term.
But speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Paul Robinson tipped Liverpool to hijack City’s move for Cherki.
If the Reds sign the winger, it could have serious ramifications for Luis Diaz, who has been linked with Barcelona.
Meanwhile, football finance expert Dan Plumley told Liverpool News 247 that he thought Slot’s side ‘held Real Madrid to ransom’ over Trent Alexander-Arnold.
