Alfredo Morelos backed to stay at Rangers after confirmed news – pundit

Alfredo Morelos may yet remain at Rangers despite the arrival of Antonio Colak.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers’ new striker.

Rangers announced the signing of Colak on 7 July as he became the club’s second signing of the summer.

Morelos, 26, has entered the final 12 months of his contract with his long-term future uncertain though Rangers Review reported on 13 June that the club are still in talks over a new deal and have not given up hope of him committing his future to Ibrox.

Kenny claims Morelos may yet stay at Ibrox.

“You just never know with things like this,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Morelos could turn around and say he wants to stay. There also has to be a bid for him. Has anyone offered any money yet?

“I’m sure Rangers don’t want to lose him for nothing but if no one wants to sign him then who knows what might happen.

“It’s a funny one but Rangers have lost a couple of strikers so one needed to come in anyway. We will have to see what happens but I don’t think it’s decided.”

Colak has scored three goals in 29 total games for the club though he bagged 29 in 38 league games while on loan at Malmo for a spell during 2021.

He has scored 128 goals in 300 games as a professional for 13 clubs.
