Alfredo Morelos backed to stay at Rangers after source’s reveal – ‘he’ll be gutted,’ says pundit
Frank McAvennie has suggested Alfredo Morelos will be forced to stay at Rangers next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Morelos will be “absolutely gutted” if Ryan Kent completes a move this summer and he is left at Ibrox.
The 26-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the Glasgow club for free if he does not sign a new deal.
Earlier this month (3 April), Football Insider revealed that the striker is attracting interest from clubs in Turkey, France, Spain and Holland and believes his time at Ibrox has come to an end.
This site has also previously revealed that the Gers are keen to tie down Kent to a new contract amid interest from Championship leaders Burnely.
As quoted by the Daily Record (21 April), Light Blues boss Michael Beale claimed that every player that featured in the 5-2 win over St Mirren will be at the club next season, barring Morelos and goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
But McAvennie suggested the Colombian may be forced to stay.
“You will probably find that Morelos will stay because I do not think anyone will take him,” he told Football Insider.

“He will be gutted because Kent is being linked with Burnley, he will be absolutely gutted if he does not get a move away.
“If he signs it will be that he did not want to go. The fans will know that it has nothing to do with that and it will be because nobody has come in for him. That is if they even want to keep him.“
