Alfredo Morelos could stay at Rangers after source’s £13m+ update – pundit

Alfredo Morelos could remain at Rangers next season despite the club bracing for offers this summer.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers star’s future.

A Rangers source told Football Insider on 7 April that club chiefs are braced for summer offers for Morelos, 25, and fear he may have played his last game for the club.

This came after it was confirmed (5 April) the striker will miss the remainder of the season after going under the knife.

Morelos is out of contract in 2023 but the Gers are set to hold out for a £13million-plus transfer fee this summer.

Despite this, McAvennie has his doubts over Morelos’ potential Ibrox exit.

“There is always talk about Morelos moving,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I guess it will start early this year now he won’t play again.

“I’ve said this before, he’s has been all over the world with the clubs he has been linked with.

“But every time, nothing has happened. There are talks of bids or transfer requests or whatever, he always stays.

“He could go, of course he could. It just feels like we get this every summer.”

Morelos has scored 19 goals in 42 total appearances for Rangers this season.

He has scored a total of 133 goals for the club since joining from HJK in 2017.
