Alfredo Morelos has ‘big regret’ after source’s Rangers reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Alfredo Morelos’ “biggest regret” will be not playing well for Rangers when he leaves this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Morelos will “find out very shortly” that he is not bigger than the club.

The 26-year-old is set to depart Ibrox this summer when his current contract expires after six years with the Glasgow club.

On 9 May, sources told this site that the Gers did open talks with the striker over a new deal, despite claims from manager Michael Beale that no new contract was offered.

But now Morelos will leave the club for free in the upcoming window and his future beyond Rangers is unclear.

When asked if the Colombian could regret not agreeing a new deal at Ibrox, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think the biggest thing he will regret is not playing well on the pitch.

If you want a move you have to play well, do not throw your toys out the pram because no one is going to take you after that.

He should have been wanting to play for his club and stop Celtic domination, that should have been the first thing that he did. The second is to play for the fans, the club that is giving him money.

Rangers

If he wants a move the only way you can do it is by playing well on the pitch. I just do not know who he is going to go to. There is no manager that is going to say that they want to take him.

Players nowadays think they are bigger than the clubs and he will find out very shortly that the grass is not always greener.
