Alfredo Morelos has ‘two options’ as Rangers exit talks imminent – Hutton

Alfredo Morelos has “two options” – straighten up and fly right or face being binned by Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender claimed Morelos, when fit, is the “best player in the team” but needs to prove himself in order to stay at Ibrox.

As reported by Sky Sports (26 August), Van Bronckhorst will hold talks with the Colombia international to tell him what he “needs to do differently” to avoid exiting the club.

The manager insisted that the striker still has a future at Rangers if he can rectify his fitness and attitude problems.

The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, was left out of the Bears’ Champions League playoff victory against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday (24 August).

Van Bronckhorst’s side secured their place in the group stages with a 1-0 win over the Dutch side.

Morelos was suspended from the Ibrox club’s 4-0 victory over Ross County on Saturday (27 July).

When asked if Rangers would be willing to sell the forward, Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s a difficult one.

I think, if fit, Morelos is no doubt in my mind one of the best players in the team and he probably does play when he’s at the peak of his power.

Rangers

I think it boils down to Alfredo and what he does. He’s got two options, toes the line, does what the manager has asked him to do and gets fit and has to be prepared to work hard. Or, he goes in a strop and Rangers ultimately try and sell him.

Even though that choice is still there for Alfredo, I think they possibly still need to bring somebody in. If you’ve just got two strikers, yes on their day they can be outstanding but I think you need that competition and when you’re going for all competitions you need that strength and depth so it might be something that the manager will visit.
