Alfredo Morelos set for ‘rude awakening’ after confirmed Rangers news – pundit

Frank McAvennie has insisted Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are set for a “rude awakening” at whatever club they sign for after leaving Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said both Morelos and Kent should be making moves to “big clubs” but insisted the pair haven’t been at their best in a long time.

Last week (23 May), the Light Blues confirmed the pair would be leaving Ibrox this summer when their contracts expire.

They are joined by Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Filip Helander all departing following the end of their deals with the Glasgow club.

Earlier this month (16 May), Football Insider revealed that Kent is a top target for Turkish club Fenerbahce who have been in contract with the 26-year-old with Premier League side Burnley also keen on his signature.

On 9 May, this site also revealed that the Light Blues opened talks with Morelos over a new deal and is believed to have multiple offers on the table after choosing to part ways with the Glasgow club.

But McAvennie has claimed neither player will end up at a club on the same level as Rangers.

“They are not going to get anywhere near the clubs that they want to be going to,” he told Football Insider.

They are going to have a very rude awakening wherever they go because it is not going to be anywhere near the size of Rangers.

They should be going to a big club, when they are at their best they are good players but they have not done it I do not think.
