Allan Saint-Maximin: Danny Mills issues ‘big’ Newcastle claim as West Ham prediction shared
West Ham have a “great opportunity” to beat Newcastle United if they can stop Allan Saint-Maximin, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back claimed Saint-Maximin is Newcastle’s “big threat” but West Ham can put real pressure on their top-four rivals with a win.
The Hammers are two points behind Man United who occupy the final Champions League place and have been picking up results in recent weeks without putting in their best performances.
Newcastle are in their best form of the season and are in the middle of a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
However, Eddie Howe confirmed today (18 February) that Kieran Trippier may be out for the rest of the season after picking up a foot injury in last weekend’s (13 February) 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
“If you look at Newcastle, Saint-Maximin is the big threat,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“If you can stop him, the main man, the creator of all the chances, then you’ve got a great chance. He’s that something different.
“West Ham still have a lot of pace and power themselves, they’ll be thinking this is a great opportunity for them to kick on.
“Ok, Newcastle have had three good results back-to-back but this is a great opportunity for West Ham to win and start putting pressure back on those teams in the top-four.”

West Ham ran out 4-2 winners at St. James’ Park when the two sides met earlier this season.
Goals from Aaron Cresswell, Said Benrahma, Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio secured the three points as Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy scored for the hosts.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed the ‘sneaky six’ have just sealed a ‘key victory’ over Newcastle United.
