Almiron ‘hurt’ by Grealish as pundit makes ‘unbelievable’ Newcastle claim

Miguel Almiron’s “unbelievable” form for Newcastle United has put his transfer value through the roof.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Paraguayan’s latest performance.

Almiron, 28, scored an impressive solo goal as Newcastle beat Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday (23 October).

The goal was the winger’s fifth in his last five games as well as his sixth league goal of the season.

Before the 2022-23 campaign started, Almiron had never scored more than five Premier League goals in a single season.

McManus claims the fan favourite is now worth considerably more to the Magpies and that they would no longer consider a sale.

“Five in five for him now, unbelievable,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“His confidence is high and when you are a forward player and your confidence is high you feel like you can do anything.

“He’s in that vein of form where he feels he can just dominate the game. If he carried on then he could get something like 15 goals this season.

“I think there was suggestions of selling him in the summer but I don’t think Newcastle would consider letting him go now.

“What would they want? It would be a lot more than they wanted a few months ago. I’m delighted for him. People mention the Grealish comments, that must have hurt him, seeing a fellow pro taking the mickey out of him.

“Whatever the reason for his form, Newcastle won’t care at all. Hopefully, he keeps it going.”

Newcastle

Almiron joined Newcastle in January 2019 in a transfer BBC Sport claim was worth £20million.

He has scored 20 goals in 135 total appearances for the club.
