Amad Diallo could quit Man United before next season amid ‘big’ claim – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested that Amad Diallo could be forced to quit Man United if he does not impress Erik ten Hag in pre-season ahead of 2023-24.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said that the manager will be willing to give Amad game time next term if he is “worthy” of it in the build-up to the new season.

The 20-year-old has been impressing on loan at Sunderland this season and has scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for the Championship side.

The forward joined United from Atalanta in 2021 and spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Rangers, where he struggled to make an impression on the Scottish side.

Speaking to FourFourTwo (8 April), Amad said he hasn’t shown his best for United yet but is hopeful he can prove himself next season.

The youngster added that it is his dream to play regular football for the Red Devils.

Hutton has been impressed by the winger’s form this season but wished he could have done it at Ibrox.

I am kind of disappointed because when he first came to Rangers that is what we were expecting, that high energy, trickery and ability that he has shown at Sunderland,” he told Football Insider.

He did not quite manage it, maybe that was the pressure of going to the big club.

Man United

The good thing for him is having Erik ten Hag. I think he would give somebody the opportunity if he feels that they are worthy of it.

If he comes back and has a good pre-season then the opportunity will be there and if not he might have to move on. It is up to him and how much he wants it.

In other news, Man United ‘domino effect’ could land them Bayern Munich star.
