Amad Diallo to surely fear for XI spot as Man United scout big talent, Ruben Amorim will love him

Amad Diallo might feel that he’s slowly being pushed out of the Man United starting lineup as the January transfer window looms at Old Trafford.

Man United claimed a last-gasp draw against Tottenham, thanks to a Matthijs de Ligt equaliser in added time, which saw the Red Devils move up to seventh in the Premier League table.

While United have come on leaps and bounds during the 2025-26 campaign, Ruben Amorim remains under pressure at the Theatre of Dreams, with plenty of other improvements needed.

Supporters are expecting perfection from the club which has won the league on 20 occasions, but with the team very much still in transition, they will need to be patient.

Amad Diallo is slowly slipping out of Man United’s XI

Amorim is still learning his best starting lineup, with the boss pressing on with his implementation of a back-five formation. The formation helps Amad to force his way into the lineup.

Man United signed Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko, all during the same transfer window, leaving very little space for the young talent in the final third.

Instead, the 23-year-old is trusted to occupy the right-wing-back spot, especially while Noussair Mazraoui has been sidelined, but the Moroccan’s recent return can only spell bad news for his future.

It remains to be see where Amad fits into the squad when all those around him are fit, and matters are about to get even worse as United scouts are sent out on a mission over the coming weeks.

Wilfried Singo emerges on the radar at Old Trafford

According to Sabah (11 November), Man United are one of the Premier League clubs eyeing up a deal for Galatasaray‘s Wilfried Singo, who is able to play centre-back or right-back.

The 24-year-old has been praised by his manager for his ability to adapt across the back, and that would lend him to playing under Amorim. But it would certainly add worry for Amad’s spot going forwards.

It is believed that the defender will be scouted by United, as well as Liverpool and Arsenal, during Galatasaray’s upcoming Champions League games against Union St Gilliose and Monaco.

If the Red Devils see what they like, and it is extremely likely that they will, given his abilities across the back line, the right-wing-back spot might be his for the taking at Old Trafford.
