Amadou Onana sends ‘massive’ message to Everton fans

Amadou Onana has taken to social media to thank the Everton fans after making his return to Goodison Park in Aston Villa’s 1-0 Premier League win on Wednesday (January 15).

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes on his return to Everton as Unai Emery’s side defeated David Moyes’ side in the manager’s first game since his return.

Onana won’t play at Goodison Park again, with Everton due to move into their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season.

Villa splashed £50million to bring the central midfielder from Everton in the 2024 summer transfer window, a club-record fee.

Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkin combined for the only goal of the game, with the winger setting up the striker to put Villa within touching distance of the Champions League spots.

Emery’s side are now just three points off Newcastle in fourth on 35, while Everton remain just one point off the relegation zone with 17.

Onana has become a key player since Joining Villa, starting 17 of his 20 games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing zero assists in his 1326 minutes of action.

The Belgium international took to Instagram to acknowledge his former and present fans, saying: “One last dance at Goodison Park with a massive win. Amazing support from the away end as always.”

Villa will travel to Arsenal on Saturday (January 18) for their next Premier League game as they seek to gain further ground on the top four.

They will then travel to lovely Monaco for a crucial Champions League game as they seek to make it to the knockout rounds.
